Donor Best Practices Guide

The Centre caters not only to nonprofits, but also has the goal of advancing knowledge, skills and performance among donors. There are many generous corporate donors in Bermuda - all with varying strategies. Some are just developing their giving strategy, others have well established corporate foundations. As The Centre began to work more closely with the corporate community, it became clear that a resource guide detailing best giving practices would be useful to our community.

In 2006, Elizabeth Walker Sobhani (a management consultant) developed the Donor Best Practices Guide. The guide is a compilation of international tools and resources and local knowledge extracted from interviews with some of Bermuda's corporate donors. The Best Practices Guide also contains useful templates for giving budgets, policy documents, and letters to grant applicants.

There is a wealth of local and international information in each section, so it is worth taking the time to review the sections that are applicable to your organisation. You can also call The Centre to assist with finding relevant information or you can attend a Centre workshop on some of the content areas listed above.
