Nonprofit Executive Leadership Forum (NELF)

 

WHAT: This forum has been developed to assist in creating and fostering networking opportunities, mentoring relationships and to facilitate professional and personal growth goals amongst Nonprofit Executive Directors.

WHY: As agents of change, Executive Directors are required to positively impact the success and management of their nonprofits.  In these changing political, social and economic times, the ability to affiliate with a support network will enable us to join and learn to recognize the systems and patterns that impede or promote the variety of causes we represent.  We believe that this forum has the potential of providing services that will possibly reduce the cost of doing business and increase the effectiveness of our policy and advocacy agendas simultaneously.  The venue for this forum is to share successes as well as challenges and to connect with peers and industry leaders/presenters.  

Framework of Operations

Formal Name -  Nonprofit Executive Leadership Forum (NELF)

Purpose:

  • Provide opportunities for nonprofit leaders to:
  • Advocate
  • Collaborate
  • Network
  • Grow

Objectives:

  • Advocate – Champion collective issues that impact the nonprofit sector
  • Collaborate – To provide opportunities for open dialogue and the exchange of information to include relevant issues and trends in the nonprofit sector
  • Networking – Through networking opportunities create meaningful working partnerships
  • Networking – Provide professional support for current and future needs
  • Growth –Work with The Centre to define training for professional development of the NELF
  • Growth – Define and determine training needs within the nonprofit sector
  • Growth – Identify research and development topics and participate in the formulization of materials
  • Grow through shared values and collaboration
  • Responsibilities of The NELF Executive Committee
  • In collaboration with The Centre, champion issues that impact the nonprofit sector
  • Provide opportunities for open dialogue and exchange of information between members
  • Seek ways to support and provide training opportunities to develop the leadership of the nonprofit community in Bermuda
  • Work with The Centre to develop relevant programmes and services for the nonprofit community in Bermuda
  • Seek areas for collaboration and seek opportunities to develop meaningful working partnerships between nonprofits and between nonprofits and other participants in the Third Sector

Meetings 

  • Committee will meet once a month
  • Committee will plan quarterly NELF Meetings
  • Committee will develop meeting agendas and topics
