History
In 2007, The Centre on Philanthropy established a collaboration with the Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs, and thus Bermuda celebrated its first National Volunteer Day on December 5.
For several years, The Centre has hosted a Volunteer Recognition Reception celebrating International Volunteer Day, recognizing volunteers that make a difference in Bermuda’s community. The Volunteer Recognition Reception gives nonprofits across the island the opportunity to celebrate and honor a volunteer who has played a vital role in their organization.
The Annual Volunteer Recognition Event is a cocktail reception, acknowledging volunteers with a certificate of appreciation, words of encouragement and thanks, and some special gifts. The event is an opportunity for volunteers to spend time with nonprofit representatives, other volunteers, donors, and Government officials who all greatly appreciate the dedication volunteers show to making a difference in our community.
