Does The Centre give funds to organisations or individuals?

No, The Centre is not a grantmaking charity, however a list of grantmaking charities is available in our nonprofit directory. Additionally, while The Centre does not rate or advise grant makers on specific charities to give to, we do provide tools, resources, and training so that grant makers can be more effective with their giving. Some of the support provided includes the online Donor Best Practices Guide, periodic workshops, and quarterly Donor Forum meetings to discuss grant making topics.

Does The Centre fundraise for other charities?

The Centre does not engage in fundraising for other charities, but we provide many workshops and toolkits to enhance your fundraising skills.

Does The Centre write bye-laws for charities?

The Centre does not write bye-laws for charities. However, our Knowledge Centre contains bye-law templates/examples that we can share with you.

Does The Centre match students with volunteer opportunities?

The Bermuda Volunteer Centre allows individuals to search for volunteer positions based on age suitability. Thus, students can use the system to find volunteer opportunities that will fit their skill level and interests.

Does The Centre assist donors with their grant making decisions?

The Centre is not involved in any donor grant making decisions. We want to represent both charities and donors and therefore will not engage in any "rating" or "certification" of charities for donors. However, we do encourage charities to become certified according to the Bermuda National Standards. Additionally, we provide training to donors on how to improve their grant making process and to charities on fundraising techniques and strategies. How is The Centre funded?

The Centre is mainly funded through a combination of membership funds, event/programme fees, programme sponsorship and fee-for-service income.
