Description

One of our more important fundraisers in our curriculum, the goal of the Empowerment Conference is to reignite the pride, power, belief, and self-worth that once smothered the residents of this wonderful island. Most often it is hard for many to see the vast amounts of fortunes that one has until it is described diligently by someone else. Our world renowned international speakers and educators, along with local inspirational figures, will hold seminars to educate and workshop various methods towards inspiring Bermudians to not only better themselves, but assist in bettering Bermuda for themselves and their fellow residents. The platforms will consist of four main strategies:

1. Research: All change, whether for the better or for the worse, begins with understanding what happened to get things to the point where situations and circumstances need to be changed to begin with
2. Recognition: Most often, there are always those that are not necessarily in belief that certain changes are needed in order to progress as a unit. Those in this denial are normally those that do not directly or immediately feel the affects of the disheartening events that take place outside of their immediate realm or comfort zone. It is important to recognize that as a collective, if circumstances, be they good or bad, DO affect everyone at some point based on the “avalanche” theory. It is also important to identify those that are more directly affected, what will the outcomes be if change is not adamant, what are the initial and immediate necessary changes required moving forward, and what are other ramifications will come with certain changes
3. Recovery & Rebuilding: After recognizing the issues that plague, it is not only important to derive methods of positive recovery, but it is imperative to create a system to sustain the positive affects. Rebuilding goes far beyond the process of temporary “quick-fixes” or “band aids”. In order to ensure productive rebuilding, one must recover to a maximum potential; and, more importantly, know what they are recovering from as to avoid a relapse when certain destructive symptoms resurface.
4. Reclaiming: Although there is no time frame for the arrival of this final stage, it is not quite the proverbial “end-all”. Sustainability is key during this phase. As times and situations change, so will the processes of sustaining the claim in a “most-positive” light. Although everyone will be affected in different ways be the change, the idea is to ensure that the change is as positive as possible for the collective, not the minority. Then and only then will we truly be able to reclaim

Benefits

The Empowerment Conference will provide those in attendance with a platform to brainstorm ideas to reach a positive Bermuda, and derive the most effective ways to reach that destination. Our educated speakers will have experianced similar situations during their journeys as professional speakers all over the world. Their experiences will provide increased knowledge in key areas.
