Bermudians between the ages of 16 and 21 can enter the Bermuda Police Service as cadets and enroll in an associates degree programme at the Bermuda College. Cadets receive a salary, medical and dental benefits and are engaged in many activities in the community. On completion of the programme, cadets are eligible to become police officers.
The Cadet Programme allows cadets to receive an education and to be involved in community service. Cadets are required to perform four hours of community service per month in their own time.
